Categories

  • Category A — Primary: age 10–12
  • Category B — Secondary: age 13–17

Age is counted on 31 December 2026. Teams have 2–3 students from the same school and category plus one advisor teacher. Each team enters one robot; schools may enter multiple teams.

How to take part

  1. 1. Register for Edufest

The advisor teacher signs in with Google and registers the school contingent. Student entry is free.

  2. 2. Form a team

In the School Panel, select 2–3 students from the same school and age category for one Robotic School entry.

  3. 3. Complete robot details

Add dates of birth, advisor contacts, robot platform, sensors, team roles, sources, preparation AI and integrity declarations.

  4. 4. Compete on the day

Pass inspection, complete 10 minutes of practice, then run two official autonomous attempts of up to 3 minutes each.

Robot & mission format

  • One autonomous ground robot, no larger than 25 × 25 × 25 cm, no heavier than 1.5 kg and using no more than 12 V nominal power.
  • The robot must have an accessible stop switch, pass inspection and complete a 10-minute unscored practice.
  • Two official attempts of up to 3 minutes each. The robot starts autonomously, crosses three checkpoints in order, delivers an object, enters the finish zone and stops there for at least 3 seconds.
  • The best attempt decides ranking; the other attempt breaks a tie. Exact ties share the place. There is no speed bonus.

What is judged

Autonomous start10 marks

Robot leaves the start zone fully under autonomous control

Three checkpoints30 marks

Robot crosses checkpoint 1 in the correct sequence · Robot crosses checkpoint 2 in the correct sequence · Robot crosses checkpoint 3 in the correct sequence

Object delivery30 marks

Object is moved fully out of its starting zone · Part of the object enters the target zone · The whole object enters the target zone

Finish zone20 marks

Part of the robot enters the finish zone after checkpoint 3 · The whole robot enters the finish zone after checkpoint 3

Controlled stop10 marks

Robot stops autonomously in the finish zone for 3 continuous seconds

Each of the ten observable items earns 10 or 0 marks, for 100 total. Confirmed items remain scored when time expires or a team requests a stop. A verified technical fault may void an attempt for replay.

Integrity & safety

  • After starting, the robot must operate autonomously: no remote, wireless, Bluetooth, voice, live AI or outside control.
  • Students must build, program and understand the robot. Declare AI used during preparation, source code, libraries, designs, licences and outside help.
  • Judges record robot and code versions. Teachers and supporters may not share code, adjust the robot or coach during an official attempt.
  • Follow officers' inspection, arena and immediate-stop instructions. Unsafe robots or conduct may be stopped or disqualified.

Awards

Champion, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up proposed for each category. Prize values and certificate eligibility are pending official confirmation. Results appear on the Edufest results page and count toward school points and e-certificates.

The registration closing date and link, session date and exact location, arena dimensions and object specifications, approved equipment list, contact details, prize values, certificate eligibility and results date are pending official confirmation.
