Categories

  • Category A — Primary: age 10–12
  • Category B — Secondary: age 13–17

Age is counted on 31 December 2026. Open to government, aided, private and international schools in Malaysia and abroad. Team entry: 2–3 students from the same school and category plus one advisor teacher. Each student joins only one team. No LEGO experience is needed — everyone learns the method during the session.

How to take part

  1. 1. Register for Edufest

The advisor teacher signs in with Google and registers the school contingent. Student entry is free.

  2. 2. Form a team

In the School Panel, select 2–3 students from the same school and age category for one LEGO Serious Play team entry.

  3. 3. Complete team details

Add each member's date of birth, class and role, guardian emergency contacts, access needs and the declarations.

  4. 4. Build on the day

Join the 150-minute facilitated session — basic training, individual builds, sharing, the shared model, a change scenario and reflection — then share for 5 minutes plus 3 minutes of Q&A.

Session format

  • Theme “Bina Makna, Pimpin Bersama”. Teams work with organiser-provided LEGO elements only — no outside materials.
  • A 150-minute facilitated session: basic training in the method, individual builds, individual sharing, building the shared model, a change scenario applied to the shared model, reflection and wrap-up.
  • Every participant builds an individual model; the team combines their meanings into one shared model, then adapts it when the change scenario is announced.
  • Sharing: 5 minutes per team plus 3 minutes of Q&A. Every voice matters — all members attend and contribute.

Judging criteria

Meaning & challenge link25%
Leadership & equal participation25%
Shared model integration20%
Reflection & action20%
Communication & listening10%

Each criterion is scored 0–5 and scaled to its weight, for 100 marks in total; multiple judges are averaged and the final mark is rounded to two decimals. Ties compare leadership and equal participation, then meaning and challenge link, then reflection and action. Model size, build speed, popularity or one member's dominance earn no extra marks.

Originality, AI & wellbeing

  • All models are built during the session from the provided elements — no prepared or outside models, and no generative AI, internet or phones during the session. AI used for general learning before the event may be declared, with no bonus or penalty.
  • Keep elements on the table and build stable models only; handle elements with care.
  • Respect every teammate's model and meaning — every voice matters, and no member may dominate. Judges assess teamwork through observation, the shared model and answers, not loudness.
  • Participants may ask for a break or an equivalent alternative scenario if content causes discomfort; wellbeing officers handle support confidentially. Real concerns are referred to the designated teacher or safeguarding officer and never included in competition materials.

Awards
